World Congress of Social Tourism (BITS)
The World Congress of Social Tourism will take place in Quebec City from 6 to 9 October 2008. With its general theme "Tourism Development: Challenges and New Practices", the BITS wishes to put forward initiatives that nowadays materialize the principles of social, sustainable and fair tourism. Organized every two years by the BITS, the congress has a special feature this year, since it is hosted in collaboration with the World Leisure Organization (WLO), which will hold its congress at the same time, thus allowing synergies between the two organizations.

The 3rd Conference on Social Tourism organized by the Europan Commission (Tourism Unit - DG Enterprise & Industry) in parnersghip with the BITS will take place on April 23rd 2008. With the overall theme "Facilitating the Growth of the Youths and Senior Citizens Tourism Markets", this conference will assess in the first part the opportunities at EU level for social tourism stakeholders and will focus in the second part on the challenges and good practices concerning the youths and senior citizens markets.
