The Montreal Declaration Towards a humanist and social vision of tourism

As early as 1972 the BITS stressed in the Vienna Charter the social, cultural, political and economic dimensions of tourism: a fundamental feature nowadays.

As for the World Tourism Organization, it solemnly stated the objectives of social tourism in the Manilla Declaration in 1980.

What will social tourism mean tomorrow? This is the concern of the Montreal Declaration adopted by the BITS members in 1996.
