Local and Regional Authorities Network of Social and Fair Tourism
The Local and Regional Authorities Network of Social and Fair Tourism was created on 1st December 2006 on the BITS' initiative in collaboration with the Agglomeration Community of Pays d'Aubagne et de l'Etoile.
The main objective of this new international network is to support a partnership and the exchange of good practices among local and regional stakeholders active in the sector of social and fair tourism. That relates at the same time to the initiatives which facilitate holiday access to the citizens of the concerned regions and territorial communities; the organization of tourist infrastructure in these areas - whether it concerns accommodation and facilities of social tourism or cultural and environmental activities - and the contribution of social and fair tourism in terms of job creation, social cohesion and economic growth.
The Network is open to local and regional authorities, members of the ISTO, including regions, departments, provinces and municipalities in charge of tourism or the social sector.
During the first plenary session of the Network, held in Heraklion in May 2007, a charter specifying the aims and functionning of the Network was adopted.
