New ISTO member: pioneering Social Tourism in Australia

The Magical Getaway Foundation (MGF) is currently the only Australian charity dedicated to social tourism. To date, after launching in August 2013, they solely rely on donations and fundraising events.

In 2017, the Foundation sent three families on their first ever holiday. Two families went to Phillip Island in Victoria and the third family went to Lorne in Victoria, both being favourite Australian holiday destinations. For the 15 children and their families, many magical moments and lifetime memories were created through their first ever holidays. Watching the penguins waddle in at Phillip Island or having sandy toes at Lorne, these and many more experiences will always be remembered.

For the parents, it was a dream come true. So often they hear these words: `Thank you so much, we could never have gone on a family holiday without your help." Our goal before the end of this financial year is to send another 20 children and their families on their first ever holiday to a destination in Victoria, Australia.

Below is a video of the Swinge Family who went on their first ever holiday last year to Lorne.
