Vacances Ouvertes VO

Established in 1990, Vacances Ouvertes is an association where tourism meets social welfare. It aims to help people in accessing and planning holidays, which are seen as a way of overcoming social exclusion.

Neither tour operator nor directly involved with the individuals, Vacances Ouvertes works in partnership with different types of grass-root organisations that locally support families and young people to organise their holiday as active project participants.
Professionals recognize the association as a resource centre, where they can ask for financial support as well as information.

Vacances Ouvertes is also a place where professionals can discuss experiences and practices with each other, be advised on projects engineering and strengthen their skills throughout various professional development and training sessions.
Vacances Ouvertes intervention areas are national but the association maintains partnership with local authorities. Its network counts more than 11,000 local partners and 400 members in 2007. Each year Vacances Ouvertes contributes to the departure of over 12,000 people. Vacances Ouvertes is an  « association Loi 1901», which received the agreement of the Ministry in charge of Youth and Sports. It is a member of the UNAT (National Union for Tourism Associations) and of EAPN (European Antipoverty Network).
