The Peruvian government, through its Ministry of Tourism, is implementing an ambitious social tourism program, the "Iniciativa de Turismo Social", which has four target groups: children and youth, seniors, people with a disability and single mothers. 
As for children, the free program is for those of primary schools in the poorest neighborhoods of Lima, who can now discover the capital by the touristic tours, where they are accompanied by touristic guides who are disguised as historical figures. For youngsters, high school students, MINCETUR offers short stays in the the region (near Lima), a holiday of 2 days/1 night of 3 days/2 nights, that include visits to archaelogical sites, national parks, villages, etc. 

For seniors, the program - also addressing people with a disability - offers tourism packages in 6 regions of the country, of 2 days/1 nigh, where the attractions and points of interest of the region are promoted and visited.
